As You Well Know, Education Takes a Village To Be Successful

Get To Know Us At HelpTxTeachers

Having been raised by teachers and working as them ourselves, we share a deep passion for education and serving those who are seeking understanding and guidance. Clint’s mother witnessed firsthand the confusion and lack of clarity that comes with not understanding TRS completely. HelpTxTeachers exists to provide unmatched value to all teachers. This allows you to continue to focus on your passion.

Just like many of you, our family is our number one priority. That’s why we’ve chosen to work together to serve you in the best way possible.

The Guy Who Started All of This

A true teacher at heart, Clint loves education. He taught for five years and is passionate about helping others. He started HelpTxTeachers after his mom made mistakes with her own TRS choices that cost her her pension. Helping teachers avoid the mistakes his mom made is what drives him each and every day.

9 Things You Didn’t Know About Clint:

  1. Clint and Nova met in high school and dated for a couple of months before he “abandoned” her to go to college. They reunited thirty years later and it is absolute magic! Soulmates do exist…#Finaways
  2. Empathy is Clint’s number one strength and number one weakness. Teachers sense this during the first meeting and have said they feel very comfortable talking to him about their retirement concerns.
  3. Clint truly enjoys doing all the cooking for the family, but he never folds socks.
  4. Clint’s favorite food is all you can eat crab legs. We have pics to prove it. He also enjoys almost anything pasta from an Italian menu.
  5. Giving back to Texas teachers is a priority for Clint. Prior to the pandemic, he has partnered with 23 Central Texas elementary schools through science fair judging, field day sponsorships and his attendance and tardy bingo programs.
  6. On most weekends, you can find Clint busy and booked solid being a husband, dad and Popzie.
  7. Having played golf since age 4, Clint loves getting out to the course with Nova as often as he can. She is super competitive and gets closer to beating him every time they play.
  8. After graduating from Southwest Texas State, Clint taught and coached in Bridge City, New Braunsfels and Florence during his five-year career prior to all this. He took pride in being a teacher that coached. Not the other way around. His mom brought him up with a giver’s heart and he loves education.
  9. During quiet times, Clint finds himself lost in a sci/fi or mystery novel. Two of his favorites are the Hope series by David Feintuch and the Elvis Cole series by Robert Crais.

The Mom Who Inspired All of This

Lorrie Hutson

The Mom Who Inspired All of This

Mom taught for over twenty years in Illinois and Texas. When she decided to leave teaching, she was not educated on her Rule of 80 and didn't ask the right questions. She basically cashed out her pension, then she and dad blew through that in 18 months. Lorrie ran an in-home daycare until she was 65, not because she wanted to, but because she had to. She wishes she had asked a few more questions and been educated on how it all worked.

Seeing her go through this and the struggles it caused, Clint quit teaching after five years to tell her story to as many TRS pension holders as possible. We want every teacher to avoid the mistakes she made by not being completely educated. Thanks for everything, Mom! I love you.

9 Things You Didn’t Know About Mom:

  1. Lorrie graduated from Southern Illinois University and taught High School English and speech in both Illinois and Texas.
  2. Lorrie has been a humongous fan of Elvis since the 8th grade and saw him live in St. Louis and Carbondale.
  3. Being raised on a farm in Illinois, Lorrie built a strong work ethic along with her four siblings.
  4. Lorrie got glasses with bifocals in the 3rd grade and was given the nickname Pee Wee due to her short stature.
  5. Lorrie’s maiden name is Butt. She has an uncle named Harry. (I know, right…)
  6. As a high school cheerleader, Lorrie helped lead the squad to win the “Best in Conference” award. She also took tap dancing lessons throughout her childhood with her sisters.
  7. Lorrie and Terry (Dad) were High School sweethearts who met in kindergarten.
  8. A love of gambling and horse racing has led to many trips to Las Vegas over the years for Lorrie and Terry. Her father was a horse trainer and competed in harness racing all over Southern Illinois.
  9. Lorrie was awarded “Teacher of The Year” at Carbondale High School in 1978.

The HelpTxTeachers Mascot

Daizy Mae was rescued from a shelter in San Antonio. We weren’t there for a big dog, however, she is the one Clint came home with. We say it was just meant to be. Daizy Mae is like the kid Clint and Nova never had together. She keeps them busy throughout the day at the office with numerous potty and snuggle breaks.
